Keeping your sneakers looking fresh can often be easier said than done. If they're subjected to daily wear then you may find you simply don't have the time to keep up with a strict maintenance schedule.

Naturally, sneakers in darker colours, such as black and blue, won't require as much upkeep as their white sneaker counterparts, but taking a cloth and a brush to them every so often will only increase their life expectancy.

One of the most popular pairs of casual sneakers on the market is Converse. The former shoe of choice for professional basketball players (before Nike muscled its way in) has since enjoyed notoriety worldwide for its distinctive and original style, a plethora of colours and their ability to be worn by pretty much everyone.

However, what makes Converse so popular is also its downfall when it comes to cleaning: their use of canvas. Canvas, being a cloth material can accumulate dirt and grime incredibly easily and so it doesn't take long for your new, bright white Connies to start looking a little worse for wear.

Fortunately, there are numerous methods you can use to clean them effectively, and all of them don't require the use of a washing machine. For the record, you should never use a washing machine in an attempt to clean your Converse; the company states on its own website "Do Not Machine Wash Or Dry".

However, many Converse owners have decided to ignore this advice and use a washing machine as the final step of a cleaning process. Despite several claims that putting your white Converse in a washing machine works wonders, we have to stress that you can risk them becoming damaged. But we're not here to tell you what you can and can't do, they're your shoes after all.

Converse does, however, suggest some cleaning advice of its own, which includes using a damp cloth to rub some lukewarm water, mixed with a mild soap onto your white Converse sneakers to keep them clean. While using this method will provide results, there are others you can use that will keep them whiter for longer.

Before you even think about slipping into your brand new pair of white Converse sneakers, you should invest in a protective spray or solution. These products can help to defend against water and splashes of dirt and makes them easier to clean in the long-run. Most shoe protector sprays and solutions will need to be applied and then left to dry overnight to ensure they perform to their best.

You can reapply your protective spray after each clean to help keep your Converse sneakers white for as long as possible.

While you could follow Converse's own tip of using warm water and mild soap, you can achieve greater results simply by using some everyday household items to make your own cleaning paste.

You will need some white vinegar and some baking soda to formulate a paste – roughly two parts baking soda to three parts white vinegar – and use a toothbrush to gently work the paste into the dirty areas. You should mix the two ingredients together in a plastic or glass bowl, and not a metal one because the metal can potentially react negatively with the vinegar.

Remove the laces first, before soaking your white Converse in cold water to help dislodge any loose dirt. It's important you use cold water because using warm or hot water greatly increases the risk that any stains already on your Converse sneakers will set in.

Once they're soaked through, you can get to work cleaning. The shoelaces can be washed in warm water and soap separately, although replacing them with an inexpensive pair of fresh white laces is the more convenient option.

Start with the sole and work your way up, and once you've finished cleaning a section, rinse it in warm water and marvel at the results. If said results aren't up to your standard, you can clean the area again using the same paste.

Finally, rinse your Converse sneakers once again in cold water and leave to air dry. If you're feeling brave, you can put your sneakers in the washing machine before air drying them, but don't complain if they lose their shape. An effective way of helping to retain the shape of your Converse sneakers is to stuff them with socks or newspaper once they come out of the machine or invest in some proper shoe trees.

For quick and easy cleaning on-the-go, you can try using some shoe-specific cleaning wipes, or a magic eraser. Magic Eraser is the official brand name of a product from Proctor & Gamble's range of 'Mr. Clean' cleaning products, but you can find other imitation versions online and in select stores.

Magic Erasers are made from a material not too dissimilar to sandpaper, in that they are abrasive. You need to wet the Magic Eraser before you use it, but once you do, the melamine chemical compound that provides the "magic" is released and strategically designed and placed triangles harden so that they are able to catch and drag away any dirt or marks.

Be careful when using a Magic Eraser on main canvas sections of your white Converse – don't worry, it works wonders on the rubber sole and toe cap – as the friction can cause the eraser to tear. If you only have small dirt marks on your Converse, we would recommend using the baking soda and white vinegar paste method instead. Only use a Magic Eraser on large spots of dirt.

As with the homemade paste method, once you've finished using the Magic Eraser on your Converse, rinse in cold water and/or put them in the washing machine on a hot, standard-length cycle along with some mild detergent – never use bleach – and leave them in the sun to dry naturally.

Follow these simple steps and you should end up with white Converse sneakers that look good as new. We won't say they'll look just like new as a disclaimer because it's unlikely all of the dirt will be removed from the shoes. However, their appearance will certainly be improved, that is a guarantee.

The humble suit is a staple of every man's wardrobe, even for those who see a wedding once a decade. Little do some know though that a suit can be broken up and worn in countless different ways for different occasions. We're talking about the suit jacket, a single venerable piece that can show off its versatility when paired with different bottoms, shirts or layers.

When going for lighter colours up top, contrast it with darker chinos. Given the casual nature of chinos, it's also ideal to pair them with white sneakers, suede loafers and anything else that gives off the laid back vibes that are perfect for both work and play.

Proceed with caution. Not many men can pull off this look as it does go against conventional suiting looks. The issue isn't with the shorts but more so the right occasion to wear this unique combo - it's a more festive look than formal work attire. You’re interesting, a shirt like this is not. Patterns (like these) should be reserved for SAS soldiers deep within the PNG jungle. If you think you have a place in Operation Desert Schmuck, then think again. Don’t get ‘spicy’ with your choice of shirts, I suggest taking a step back and sticking with basic colours and fine patterns. These will be something your girl (or guy) WANTS to wear the next morning.

Choosing shoes can be a difficult task, but if you think that bargain = good, then you have it even harder. Men’s dress shoes should not look like camels feet, not should they have a sharp square toe. Take the above example – if you think this is good, then I suggest you read this article. You will soon understand that shoes women notice do not come in packs of three.

So cool in 1991, even I had one. I used to rock it out with my Cross Colours / Happy Pants. No matter how much further these go into the time/space continuum, guys continue to wear them. The Prada, Dior, D&G brands seem to be the worst offenders in these wrap sunglass types. The lads who sport them...let’s not go there. It’s time to let them go and invest in some aviators.

Even if you have a body carved by the gods (RIP Zyzz), it still doesn’t give you the right to take your shirt off at every public occasion.  The girls or boys you might think you’re impressing are not the types you want to take home to meet Mum. The great tale of Bluebeard says he kept his many wives intrigued by his closet of secrets. Let your chest be one of them.

Every Spring Carnival I see guys rocking these oddball hats with their suits, so it pains me to know that you MUST have a hat to enter men’s fashions on the field. Regardless, the trilby is just a sh*t look. If you want to wear a hat, go baseball or panama with a beige suit. Ze plane, ze plane!

Just like Spock or AJ from the Backstreet Boys, you deserve to be teleported to a world far far away, where you can do no white-trash harm.  Facial hair is best kept full or non-existant. Take cues from the Most Interesting Man in the World, but not Cletus.

When you die and go to heaven you’ll notice two queues at the pearly gates. One for people who wore Crocs and one for those who did not.  Crocs were born out of boredom and excess rubber, they become a worldwide phenomenon for children but adults somehow got sucked in along the way. I’m all for patriotism, but the southern cross tattoo is a symbol which has a better affinity with rioting than Advance Australia Fair. Vote, pay your taxes, fight in wars but leave the southern cross tattoo out of it.

This just kills me. Why guys persist on not wearing shorts over their gym leggings is beyond me. The last thing anyone wants to see when you’re jogging around the park is someone coming toward you with their meat and two veg jumping about the place. Do us all a favour and keep them covered.

Unless you’re Chad Reed or up for an AVN award, then do yourself a favour and buy shirts with collars that stay inside of your jacket lapels. This look is a dead set giveaway that you were born in a caravan or at the carnival.

A good friend of mine recently pulled out a wallet that was more stuffed than a Christmas turkey.  I took it upon myself to purchase him a nice slim looking Ralph Lauren wallet which I hoped would solve his woes. Big wallets make big bulges in all the wrong places. Buy a basic card holder and leave your Blockbuster membership at home.

These are almost as bad as Crocs but have a slight redeeming quality in that they’re a disabled cousin to the Espadrille. The new wave of canvas slip-ons sees men take a further step down the road of footwear mediocrity. These nasty specimens are poorly made, fall apart and get so dirty you think the people wearing them are homeless.

Ed Hardy is dead, long live the king. Sorry, I mean the Chapel St douchebag. T-shirts with prints on the front went out of style about 5 years ago. They are now reserved for football players who start fashion labels and distant relatives who persist on buying you crappy birthday presents.

Through the ages men have taken it upon themselves to buy jeans that accentuate their man hips.  What’s even worse is when men decide that the full shirt tuck and or the t-shirt tuck is the perfect way to compliment their special jeans. Next stop, Wrong-town.

Since when did being seen in public with MASSIVE headphones become cool? Do you really want everyone to know that you take your music quality seriously? Can you really tell the difference anyway? Do away with the big headphones, you are not in a studio and they make you look like Micky Mouse.

I thank the good lord that these vile specimens are not in season, however there are still some foolish souls who dare to wear them.  Cargo pants are without a doubt one of the most heinous kind of pants a guy can wear. They’re bulky, unflattering and unless you’re a soldier serve little or no purpose.

We never said looking good was ever going to be comfortable, so don’t try to break the rules by wearing runners with your work suit. The most common offender of this style sin is the city office worker. All too often we see these ‘efficient’ people donning a pair of Brooks and heading to the tram or train. Dress to kill, not to out-run Ussain Bolt.

I’m going to immediately piss off the environmentalists with this sin, but bringing your office coffee mug to get your morning latte is a style shocker. Spotted all over the city, these men often travel in packs so you cannot miss them. Love your latte, but leave the mug in the office next to the ficus and inspirational poster.

With all the daily deal websites popping up, it’s no wonder there’s a rise in this low quality behaviour. Nothing spoils a classy dinner like the man who pays with a coupon. Keep your coupons for buying online, where everyone can agree that saving 10% on your next Mr. Porter purchase is a winner winner chicken dinner.

Now remember, this sin is null and void if you have kids!! If you don’t have kids and enjoy a day at the beach in your beach tent, then think again. We’re all for slip, slop and slap, but cowering like Hobbits in a plastic tent is not how summer should be spent.

Nothing burns quite as deep as guys knocking around in Travesty brand t-shirts. We have a cultural phenomenon here in Australian of football / AFL players who are often seen in this brand. Recent sightings lead me to believe they’re often purchased by unknowing girlfriends. Regardless, they’re still a no no even if your frail Aunt Mavis purchased it for you.

Not content with your 15 tattoos, you decide it’s time to add one “where everyone can really see it”. The Job Stopper is the term given to a tattoo on an area of your body that guarantees any future employer or potential mate will question your sanity. We’re not against tattoos- for some people they make up for a squeaky voice (DB)- but if you’re going to get them, try and be a little undercover.

Crumpler messenger bags were cool at the turn of the century. Not anymore. Once designed for those daring chaps who get around town as bicycle couriers, the Crumpler infiltrated itself into the wardrobes and work repertoire of many men. You’re working hard, going from meeting to meeting and you need to be opening doors like a boss… We suggest opening doors like an undercover boss. Keeping your access pass (or keys) conveniently around your neck is a no no. The same goes for those elastic ones you keep on your belt. When you’re out of the office, keep your lanyard and access pass in your pocket and ONLY use it emergencies, such as fires, hurricanes and all-out nuclear war.

Heaven knows why such heinous things were invented. As if there weren’t already enough ugly shoes on the market. These whack specimens are often seen in the local gym on guys who are training for a role in Spiderschmuck 3D. Like drugs, just say no.

While on the gym topic, nothing burns me up like the guy who’s wearing his jeans for a workout. Whilst denim is known for its durability and style, it does not give itself the right to enter the sacred ‘house of weights’. What’s even worse is the cut-off jean phenomenon that’s sweeping society. Remember D is for denim and denim belongs in the disco. Can you believe we’re already up to our fourth edition of the D’Marge men’s style and fashion sins? It seems every year we continue to discover men’s fashion faux pas that grind our gears. We’ve curated this list based on the D’Marge community’s feedback and our own self righteous opinions. Something happened this weekend. I saw three pairs of these sandals on men walking around Melbourne. Clearly there’s been an Adidas fire sale and men have picked up a few pairs. These sandals are hideous. If you own them, burn them. If you see Zuckerberg, burn his too!

Here’s the guy who thinks he’s killing two birds with one stone. Your black work socks may have already had 8 hours of wear but that does NOT give them the right to go running with you. Pack an extra pair of white socks and stop being so lazy (and Dad-like).

Unless you’re Marlon Brando,  avoid tucking your t-shirt into your jeans. We see this phenomenon happen most Fridays in the corporate world. Leave your t-shirt untucked and sport a well cut blazer over the top – you’ll look much more modern and cool.

Seen most often at bogan weddings and within the IT industry, the black shirt / white tie combo is often accompanied by a poorly fitting suit and fake D&G wrap around sunglasses. Black shirts in general should only ever be worn with black ties or with an open collar. Keep the gangster vibe for your next dress up party.

I die. The manager of a local Chinese restaurant always rocks his Hermes belt and his colourful braces. Choose one or the other, but they should never be worn together. Even if you own a Chinese restaurant.

Dress shoes are called dress shoes for a reason. They’re meant to be clean, polished and not falling apart. Guys who insist on wearing dress shoes long after the toes have collapsed inward need to take note. It’s time to trade them  in for a new pair that will last the distance.

You know those cool little tags that are often sewn into the sleeve of the suit? Yes well those need to be taken off before you wear the suit, Einstein.  I’ve interviewed many a candidate who does not know this rule. Remember this. It will save much embarrassment.

Nothing says you’ve arrived like a good ol’ fashioned dose of Australian sunburn, the most common being the variety when t-shirts or singlets are worn too often. Sunburn sins also come in varieties such as the popular the Racoon or the I fell asleep on my stomach sunburn. Cover up or uncover but make it even, Steven.

This style sin happens when men forget t-shirts and tumble dryers don’t mix. After considerable shrinkage, men continue to wear said t-shirts that eventually show off their midriff like a teenage girl. This means exposure of navel fluff, outties, fat white bellies and perhaps the occasional 6 pack. Buy new t-shirts and keep your gut covered up.

Lastly, we have the deep v-neck t-shirt. Once an essential part of any young man’s wardrobe, the deep v is now strictly saved for urban thugs and inked up heroes.  It’s time to ditch the deep v and invest in some scoop necks or v necks that don’t show off as much of your Heavage.

Why these were ever created still plagues scientists globally. The leather blazer is something that men ask for on a trip to Bali. “There’s a leather shop, that’s a nice leather blazer, uma get me one!” When worn it gives the district impression that your creepiness knows no limits and you probably own black satin bedsheets. Keep away.

When I was 16 I had my ear pierced and to this day I can’t get rid of the hole. Many a sleepless night has been had because of this. We don’t care whether you’re Lewis Hamilton or Jack Sparrow, the earring needs to stay in the 80s along with slap bands, happy pants and Molly Ringwald...and maybe Corey Feldman.

Remember the last time you went shopping and you walked out with 2 pairs of square toed dress shoes? Now get in your time machine, go back 18 months and give yourself a slap. Square toed dress shoes need to be burned and new investments need to be made.

It’s date night, you look great, she looks better but your car’s dirty inside and out. This is ‘cool guy’ seppuku. Dirty cars tell the world you have skid marks in your underpants and 6-week-old cheese still in the microwave. Get into the habit of washing your wheels regularly.

Now that music festival season is upon us, we’re seeing the bros with their chicken legs out in full force. Do yourself a favour: make friends with the squat rack. You’ll be better proportioned and won’t blow over in a strong breeze.

Or any sheepskin lined shoes / boots or sandals for that matter...Possibly the worst invention since herpes, the Ugg boot has become the international symbol for those without a sense of decency to unite as one. This guy’s thinking, ‘I can’t figure out why she left me.’ We can, mate.

A few years back I took part in an advertising pitch where our leader had one of these. To this day, the colour still burns my retinas. These items of sin tell the world you know nothing about looking good in the boardroom. I’m pleading with you, if you own these, burn them. Burn them all! (FYI – They’re highly flammable.) Yes, you can get low calorie My Muscle Chef meals, but there isn't a huge selection in my honest opinion. The name should give it away that My Muscle Chef meals are all about building muscle and not losing weight, and calories are a gym junkie's best friend. They're particularly effective for those who keep an exceptionally close eye on their calorie count, as each meal reveals how many calories it contains.

On the company's website, you can choose your ideal carb count and go from there. The best low carb meals are chicken tikka or beef fajitas. Both happen to taste incredibly good too. Overall, however, it would be nice to see a few more high-protein/low carb options, especially when you consider most protein powders, protein bars and even protein shakes tend to just stuff in as much protein as they can while keeping carbs low.

In comparison to other meal prep services on the market, My Muscle Chef is certainly one of the better performers. There are plenty of flavours and perhaps surprisingly, I've not even felt sick of continually eating them (sick as in, bored, of course. I'm perfectly healthy). I recommend not freezing them but instead, leaving them in the fridge as they keep for 2 weeks.

You can't expect too much from a microwave meal but My Muscle Chef has done a pretty good job of making these taste good. Even my girlfriend has started eating them after hating on them for 12 months.

This is an easy one, no. While my very first few experiences of ordering with My Muscle Chef was a little trickier than perhaps they should have been, the process now is much smoother. The improved website makes it easy to design your own meal package and it shows you the discount you're receiving along the way. I tend to order the same thing again and again, which makes the 'your order' function handy, as in just a few clicks my usual meals will be on their way to me.

You can even set up regular weekly or monthly orders if you're eating a lot or low on time.

Yep, even vegans are catered to in the My Muscle Chef range, although I can't comment on what they're like. Who in their right mind would eat vegan food. Eew. Seriously though, most vegan food tastes like cardboard so I assume these meals will taste the same.

It's much faster than it used to be. My Muscle Chef seemed to get their self together during pandemic and now offer next day delivery in metro areas, which is really handy. Before you would have to wait a week which was a major burn. Gains can't wait.

Having tried pretty much the entire range of My Muscle Chef meals (except the vegan ones, of course) I've been able to come to the conclusion that these are the best-tasting options.

You will also need to think about the band itself, the size of it, the setting within which the diamond you choose will sit. Before we get into discussing all there is to know about buying an engagement ring, let it be said that it won't be a cheap process. Unless you want to invest in a ring from off the shelf of a high-street jeweller, you can expect to pay anywhere from the high four figures, easily into five figures and if you're feeling really flush, six figures.

Gregory Jewellers, one of Australia's most prestigious and trusted jewellers, may ask for a tad more than your run-of-the-mill high street jeweller (although, jewellery brands that are known the world over demand an even higher premium), but there's a good reason for that. The company puts actual man-hours into sourcing the finest diamonds from around the world – predominantly India, which is the diamond cutting capital of the world right now – and each diamond the company procures is inspected by eye. Only the diamonds that meet their strict criteria are taken on. Co-CEO Edward Gregory says that on average, for every one thousand diamonds available, only around ten of them will be deemed of a high enough quality to be worthy of bearing the Gregory Jewellers name.

It's therefore paramount you have a budget in mind when buying an engagement ring. Giving this snippet of information to a jeweller such as Gregory will make the buying process infinitely easier, as you will only be shown diamonds and rings that are affordable to you, from Australia’s largest physical live diamond inventory.

With that out the way, it's on to the fun part.

While it may be true of any other piece of diamond jewellery, when it comes to the engagement ring, guys, you're going to want to become well acquainted with the shiny stones. There's a lot to factor in if you want to secure the perfect one.

If you've already started your research before you buy an engagement ring, you would have likely come across the 4Cs. If you haven't, then allow us to explain all.

The 4Cs of diamond quality were established by the GIA – the Gemological Institute of America – in 1953, and relate to cut; clarity; colour and carat weight of a diamond. If you want the absolute best of all these then expect to pay a high, high price. You can, however, compromise on each to reduce the price significantly, although, let it be known, unless you have a diamond with a perfect cut, the rest of 4Cs won’t matter.

That means you could have yourself a diamond that’s graded D for colouring (meaning its colourless to the naked eye) for example, but unless it’s cut so that light enters and exits evenly, then your diamond isn’t going to sparkle as much as you (and Gregory Jewellers) would like. Gregory strongly recommends you don’t compromise on the cut.

And, just to make things a little trickier, just because the 4Cs derive from the most authoritative industry figure, doesn’t always mean you should take a grading as gospel as, upon closer inspection, the diamond may actually exhibit qualities that improve upon the grading and vice versa. The grading of diamonds is something that Gregory Jewellers takes seriously, not to mention a fair amount of pride.

Gregory Jewellers will source beyond diamond certificates. Despite often having this certification document, Gregory will still inspect it by eye to give it their own grading, which may or may not match up with the GIA grading. If having a GIA certificate isn’t something of paramount importance to you, then Gregory’s is still able to offer a selection of diamonds without this documentation.

Gregory has the motto, "We want to meet the diamond before you meet the diamond."

This is because not all VS or SI diamonds (diamonds with very small inclusions, more on that in a bit) for example, will be the same.

It's instilling strict measures such as this that sets Gregory Jewellers apart from their competitors, as others will take the GIA gradings as gospel, but you, the customer may not be getting exactly what you want.

The cut, or shape, of a diamond, will dramatically influence how it interacts with light, and we all want to end up with something shiny, right?

There are a number of different cuts to choose from, but these 11 are the most popular:

The absolute finest cut is the round brilliant diamond. This is a perfectly round shape, with light passing into it and refracting out to produce the full rainbow of colours. The more colour you see refracted from your diamond, the better.

Round brilliant diamonds are also the most expensive because a larger piece of rough (the diamond rock mined from the earth that hasn't yet been cut or processed) is needed to achieve the round shape.

The other cuts won't perform as well under light due to their irregular shapes compared to a round brilliant, but, assuming they don't have any major inclusions, and are cut to ideal proportions, will still sparkle.

Co-CEO Helen Gregory says it is important to view any diamonds in person. Your diamond will have an immediate impact on you and “a great diamond is going to perform well in any light.”

You could have a diamond whose table (the top section) looks flat or dull, or perhaps even smaller than it should be, yet the grading could imply it should fair far better.

The colour of a diamond should be relatively self-explanatory. Colour is graded by letter, starting at D for the purest, colourless diamonds, all the way through to Z. Each letter will introduce some hue (usually a yellow tint). The greater the hue, the less valuable the diamond.

Again, the diamond colour will be closely inspected by Gregory's and they're prepared to disagree with the GIA grading and reject a stone if the hue is either not as the certificate says, or if the colouring dramatically affects the sparkle. If it doesn’t ‘dance’, it’s not stocked.

Remember, diamonds can, in fact, have an array of overtones including, but not limited to, grey, brown and green. Generally speaking, overtones other than yellow decrease the beauty and value of the diamond.

The hue doesn’t come into account if you’re selecting a diamond that is deliberately meant to be coloured, such as a yellow diamond, or a different gemstone entirely, such as a ruby.

The clarity of a diamond can have a significant effect on the price and relates to naturally occurring imperfections found in the stone, as a result of being exposed to heat, movement and other forces below the earth's surface.

The crème de la crème of diamonds with regards to clarity is referred to as 'flawless', and these stones are incredibly rare, although if you do manage to track one down, you’re going to have to pay a huge amount of money.

It’s because of this that diamonds with inclusions are both more likely what you’ll end up buying and will be significantly cheaper as a result.

But don’t let the word inclusion put you off. Inclusions can be graded as VVS (very, very small) VS (very small) and then by SI1, SI2 and so on. However, they will only be visible through the use of a jeweller’s loop, a magnifying glass that magnifies an object at 10 times what the naked eye can see.

However, once again it's not quite that simple. Gregory says that while a diamond may come with a certificate that says it is an SI2, that inclusion might be on the top and in the centre, where it's visible or has a noticeable effect on the behaviour of the light. In this instance, Gregory will either grade it themselves or reject the diamond altogether.

Top-band SI1 diamonds should be ‘eye-clean’ while SI2 can be borderline, although, in the case of Gregory, all their diamonds will be selected from the highest possible band within the clarity grade. If you do need to think about cost, the company explains that a SI2 diamond with major inclusions face-up could be 25% cheaper than an SI2 diamond where the inclusions are not visible and not impacting the behaviour of the light too much.

The Gregory Standard ensures that Gregory diamonds are examined for their lustre and transparency, by carefully examining each diamond by eye, and not relying on a diamond’s certified characteristics alone. This natural characteristic is often overlooked, but can directly affect the brilliance, dispersion and scintillation of the diamond.

We've all heard of carats and understand that the higher the number, the more expensive and valuable. However, it's important to know how that carat weight is formed. A single diamond that has a weight of 1 carat, will be more expensive and more valuable than to buy two diamonds that have a weight of 0.5 each. Every time you go over each bracket, the price of the diamond jumps significantly.

When you view the selection of diamonds and engagement rings on the Gregory Jewellers website, you will be able to select various carat weights for the same style stone, if applicable.

However, again, just because a diamond is 2-carat in weight, doesn’t necessarily mean it will be a ‘better’ diamond than a 1.5-carat stone, if it isn’t cut well. Sure, it will be bigger, and for some people, bigger will always mean better, but for value and desirability, you’ll want to go for the better cut 1.5-carat diamond.

Feel more knowledgeable? Perfect. With this newfound diamond knowledge under your belt, not only will you be able to kick it with the dealers in New York's Diamond District, but you will now be able to start your journey of creating the perfect ring.

No matter what shape of diamond you're after or what inclusions you're prepared to part money for, Gregory Jewellers will be able to source you a diamond that matches your checklist.

While we could easily spend even longer talking about the 4Cs, we have a word count to stick to. Ultimately, with this extra knowledge, you can go into a jeweller such as Gregory with a clearer idea of what sort of diamond you're after. Once you have that nailed down, you can look into the actual ring upon which your diamond(s) will be featured.

While it's likely the diamond will be subject to more consideration than the ring itself, it's still not an area to be overlooked. Gregory Jewellers, as an example, can make all manner of ring styles to suit your, or rather, their, tastes and lifestyle. If your partner has a more hands-on job, for example, then you're going to want the setting to be extra secure to prevent the diamond from falling out if it takes even the slightest of knocks.

With regards to setting, there are seven options to choose from:

For the vast majority of rings, any setting can be paired with any band and any diamond, but this will usually only become an option if you choose to create a custom ring entirely from scratch.

If you design a custom ring with Gregory Jewellers, you'll need to head into a store with your partner (unless you cut their hand or finger off) so that a scan can be taken. With a digital copy of your partner's hand, Gregory can create rings using CAD software before printing them in 3D. If, however, you do want to accept the challenge, you can buy just the diamond on its own and go back with your partner to pick out a ring.

Custom rings take around four weeks to produce (and an additional week to develop the design), so make sure you take this into account when deciding where and when you're going to pop the question. Every man will need a suit at least once in his life. Whether that be for work, a wedding, a divorce or a court appearance (you naughty boy, you), a hero garment is absolutely necessary in your wardrobe.

With fast fashion making its presence known in the past decade, it's no surprise that men's suiting has also made its way onto the digital market with online tailoring services popping up all over the place, asking no more than your measurements to complete a suit in a matter of four weeks.

Be warned though, not everything is as fruitful as it may appear. Fit, construction and material are the cardinal rules of a perfect suit and it's extremely easy to get these wrong when you're buying a suit in front of monitor whilst sitting in your underwear.

Follow these handy pointers when buying your next suit online and you'll saved a lot of heartache, headache and money whilst still being the dapper ruler of your domain.

Before you even begin to consider things such as materials it's imperative you know your own measurements. We're not talking about your height here. Here's what you'll need to measure with a tape measure when buying a suit online:

Chest: From armpit to armpit wrapping the tape around your torso as you would a towel if you had man boobs. It might seem obvious but have the end of the tape facing the front of your body so you can read the exact measurements.

Waist: Take the tape to your waist around the point where your pants normally sit (just below your gut). Have two fingers between the measuring tape and your body to allow for a bit of comfort space. Once you've taken the measurement, try on a pair of your most comfortable trousers and compare the size as this will be closer to your actual waist size.

As with most suiting issues, always have a tailor you know on hand who can help with minor alterations. The waist is a lot harder to adjust than the length.

Your own personal taste will draw you to a particular style of suit which often falls under three categories: Classic Fit, Modern Fit or Slim Fit.

Choosing the right one is dependent on your body shape hence the stress on taking measurements first. A good suit should conform with the natural lines of a man's body regardless of if he's skinny or big.

Here are the general rules for the right fit.

Slim Fit: Chosen by the trendy and dapper men of today, slim fit suits are made to sit close to a man's body with trimmed down features such as the lapel and leg openings. The blazer length will also tend to be shorter allowing the body to appear taller. As such, slimmer men with lighter builds are best suited to slim fit suits.

Modern Fit: The modern fit suit takes elements of the slim fit cut and adds a bit more room for breathability. The shoulders are still narrower than a classic fit but the armholes are higher than a slim fit. Medium build men are best suited to this cut.

Classic Fit: The classic fit suit is designed for the more traditional crowd. Usually deemed power suits or corporate suits, the classic fit allows for the most room in the shoulders and torso area. This is best suited to men with bigger frames.

Remember that buying online is essentially a minor step up from buying ready-to-wear. As such, once you take receivership of the suit, try it on and don't expect it to fit in all the right places the first time. Alterations are common and these are the areas you should check before bringing it in to get altered:

Shoulders: The shoulders form the framework for the rest of the suit so it's imperative to get this part to sit perfectly - not too tight, not too broad. If buying online, consider the fact that different brands can offer different cuts. The suit should always sit snug on a man's shoulder with the shoulder pads never extending beyond the actual shoulders when the jacket is buttoned up.

Chest: A suit blazer should sit comfortably flat and retain its shape on your torso whether it's buttoned up or left opened. It should also contour around your waist to a degree in order to add to the body's natural lines.

Lapels: Good lapels should always sit flush against your chest. If the jacket is buttoned up and there's a gap then you've gone too tight across the chest. Another lapel rule is to match the thickness of the lapel to the thickness of your tie. Thin lapels and fat ties have never been a great look.

Sleeves: Suit sleeves should match the fit of your suit. Wide or gaping sleeves will only give you the old man look and make things look baggy. Make sure the length and girth of the sleeves and cuffs are adjusted by your tailor accordingly - not too long and not too short. It should sit just above the wristband to reveal a bit of the dress shirt underneath.

Buttons: they may be a small detail but they can completely ruin a look of they're done wrong. Buttons should fasten flat on the jacket and not pull at your waist t create unsightly bulges.

Trousers: Trousers should never be neglected just because they're the bottom half of the suit. The length and cut both attribute to making the suit look right. Slim trousers should go with slim suits and still retain the two finger gap rule in the waist. The length of the trouser can vary depending on the look a man is going for but a general rule is to have the break (trouser crease) sweeping over the top of the shoe with the back hem sitting slightly lower than the front. This will ensure the look isn't baggy whilst avoiding too much sock show when sitting down.

Waistcoats: Waistcoats can add a dash of class to any suit and they're a lot easier to wear since they have an adjustable strap on the rear. Still, it's important to ensure the waistcoat doesn't tug at the buttons similar to the blazer. And always leave the last button undone.

This one comes down to climate and personal taste. A solid colour will be the safest bet when buying online since pinstripes and patterns are difficult to gauge from a computer monitor. As such, go for a solid navy, grey and linear check. Window pane patterns can also be winners.

You're a grown man now and grown men need swim shorts that reflect good taste, good fit, superior functionality and at least a basic knowledge of the year's trending surf brands.

So drop your pants and listen up as we run you through the different types of swim shorts that are at your disposal and how to wear them correctly.

Unbeknownst to many men, today's swim shorts can come in short length, mid-length and long length. The preferences for these are usually dictated by the activity you're embarking on. For swimming purposes you'll want short to mid-length items whereas if you're doing more active sports like surfing or jet skiing, you should opt for wide leg, long length swim shorts. It's simple enough a concept but it's one that will determine how comfortable you are in and out of the water.

Before we get into the types of swim shorts you need to know about the right materials. Modern quality swim shorts normally come in the form of polyester or a fancy variation of it like quick-drying polyamide. These waterproofed materials ensure that the wearer is never weighed down in the water whilst flexibility is maintained.

Cut in the shortest length available today, short length swim shorts are made for the brave with the right tan to boot. These shorts usually sit at the midway point of your thighs so be weary that they do look more fitted and usually contour around the crotch region. The short fit itself is designed to make the wearer appear visually longer. Side splits are also common on these shorts as a way to show off more leg action.

Again, if you've got the confidence and want to grab some attention, these are the shorts for you. Just be sure not to go full hot pants. If you're going to pair short swim shorts with a top, go for something like a tee or polo shirt. Button shirts are fine but not recommended as the short length of the shorts and the shirt's longer hemline can make you look like you've gone commando.

This is the optimum length for today's swim shorts for men. Sitting at around 2 inches (5cm) above the knee, mid-length swim shorts are championed by countless designer labels from Orlebar Brown to Thom Browne to Gucci. Your choices are therefore extensive. Besides the length, you should also pay attention to the detailing of how the shorts are tightened. Some brands offer the classic draw string whilst others have intuitive side tab adjusters like formal trousers.

Like the others on this list, the fit is tailored but never tight. Mid-length shorts should look relaxed without looking daggy so always try them on first. If you squat in the gym, these will look tighter on you. Above knee swim shorts are best paired with anything from tees to polos to buttoned linen shirts. Its length makes it ideal for pairing with just about any summer top.

The longest swim short length available today isn't the 'long' that the teenage version of you knew. Sitting around your knee caps or slightly below, the long length swim shorts usually come in a wider leg opening for active beach duties. Given that there're more material to work with you can usually find more detailing like pockets and contrast stitching on these type of swim shorts.

Bear in mind though that the length won't make you look taller so be weary if you're a shorter guy. A regular cut tee, polo or button shirt can work well here so long as they're relaxed fit. Having a fitted top and longer and looser swim shorts aren't the most flattering look.

Moving on to swim short designs, we need to talk about the tried and tested plain coloured variants. The safest options for plain shorts are usually ones that aren’t excessively bright. Think black, navy, grey and even darker tones of seersucker. Those who are keen to get a bit more attention can opt for brighter yellow, red, green or blue variants. Given the plain nature of the swim shorts, it’s important that you play up the patterns up top to give the look a bit more character. Think striped tees or polos that are not in the same colour as the shorts. You’re not auditioning for The Wiggles here.

Printed swim shorts are considered today's canvas for the beach. Coming in a plethora of colours, designs and patterns, printed swim shorts are the sure-fire way to add a bit of character to your washboard abs. There's too many to mention but think anything from photo prints to silhouettes to motifs to geometric patterns - the right pair is the pair that is an extension of your own personality.

As with other length, printed swim shorts can be worn with anything from tees, to singlets to relaxed button shirts. What you need to be careful of here is the colour clash between the top and bottom. If the shorts feature vibrant patterns or colours, keep the top plain. These shorts are best worn topless but if a top is required, that's the rule to prevent you from looking like a walking Nat Geo winning photograph.

Have you ever thought, "who is Gianluca Vacchi?" and struggled to find an answer? Us too. We may have featured Gianluca Vacchi a fair amount here at DMARGE, but what we haven't necessarily covered is who he actually is. 

So, we thought it about time to dive into the world of Gianluca Vacchi to uncover who he is, how he became famous, who he's dating, what he does for a living and, perhaps most importantly, how much he's worth...

Gianluca Vacchi is an Italian businessman, entrepreneur and social media celebrity. At the age of 25, he and his cousin Alberto Vacchi took the multinational Italian business, Industria Macchine Automatiche S.p.A. (IMA), public.

IMA has gone on to become incredibly successful, and through various holding companies, Gianluca owns around 50% of the company and so receives dividend payouts each year valued at around US$50 million, which contribute to his wealth. 

Gianluca Vacchi was always destined to have a keen eye for business, having graduated from Studiorum University in Bologna, Italy, with a degree in Business and Economics.

He set out on his own path in business and began buying and selling stocks to start generating some money. He then became a non-executive director of IMA. 

He also founded a watch company called ToyWatch, which saw significant growth in its first year. Once this growth had been achieved, he sold the company.

He also founded and later sold the Last Minute Tour company, again, after it had achieved significant growth. 

Gianluca has been dating Sharon Fonseca for a number of years and they share a daughter together. The pair are now engaged to be married but met way back in 2018 during the recording of 'Trump It', one of Gianluca's first recordings (more on his music below)...

In an interview with ETV agency, Sharon said:

TikTok user Daniel Mac has become a viral sensation on both TikTok and Instagram thanks to his "What do you do for a living?" videos. But who is he, how did his videos cause him to become famous and what does he do for a living himself? Allow us to explain all.

Daniel Mac – full name Daniel MacDonald – is a content creator from the United States. He primarily uses TikTok as his platform of choice and the majority of his videos see him walking up to people driving luxurious cars and asking them "What do you do for a living?"

When he first conceived the idea of asking people what they do for a living, he was living in Tucson, Arizona and so rarely saw exotic cars driving the streets. However, upon securing a new job, he moved to Dallas, Texas and started seeing more prestige and luxurious cars around on the roads, so he decided to put his idea into action.

Daniel Mac has previously spoken to LadBible, telling the online publication, "

I started having the idea during the summer [2020], prior to my first video. My first video ever was the very end of September 2020."

"I had just graduated from college - I went to the University of Arizona and studied finance and was moving out to Dallas."

"I went on a little camping trip to some of the National Parks with some friends and actually brought the idea up to them while we were on this long two-week trip.

"I kind of carried it with me over the next couple of months but really didn't have a good enough area with Ferraris and Lamborghinis and whatnot."

It was following his move to Dallas, Texas that he recorded and posted his first video which shot him to stardom.

He says he was with a friend walking the streets of Dallas when he saw a Ferrari, a Lamborghini and an Audi R8 in the same parking lot, and decided it was "now or never." He recorded the video, posted it the next day and it received more than one million likes overnight.

Daniel Mac has since quit his full-time job to pursue content creation.

The vast majority of people he records in their cars now recognise him immediately.

Manscaped is a men's brand of various grooming products. Most notably, the company has a body hair trimmer called The Lawn Mower, alongside others such as The Weed Whacker nose and ear hair trimmer, The Plow face razor and The Crop Shaver groin razor.

The Lawn Mower is now in its fourth generation and is marketed as not only the best attack against groin hair but as a tool to use for all your body hair removal needs. It's available to buy on its own or as part of various bundle sets, which can include other grooming products such as the Crop Reviver ball toner and Crop Preserver ball deodorant. I do like the use of humour in Manscaped's marketing, but even I'll admit a toner specifically developed for your balls sounds a little farfetched.

The Manscaped Lawn Mower 4.0 is a relatively small hair trimmer, finished in a smart-looking matte black colour and one that can be used wirelessly. Some body hair groomers may only work when plugged into the mains, but the wireless functionality of the Manscaped Lawn Mower 4.0, coupled with its small size, makes it easy to manoeuvre around those hard to reach, and delicate, places.

I'm someone who does like to regularly maintain hair length, and would most commonly use a safety razor in the shower. I've come away unscathed 99 percent of the time, and have always had reservations about taking an electric trimmer to my nether regions. Fast-moving teeth and delicate areas don't mix, in my opinion.

I was also aware of some pretty negative reviews of the Manscaped trimmers, with many claiming they had cut themselves when attempting to manscape. Safe to say, I went in with some caution. Manscaped claims the Lawn Mower 4.0 is outfitted with SkinSafe technology on the ceramic blades, which provides "precision-engineered for maximum confidence while trimming below-the-waist."

After charging the trimmer using the supplied charging base (you do need to have your own USB-A plug) which lets you know by way of three lights how charged your trimmer is, I set it to work. I decided against using the Lawn Mower 4.0 on my balls but felt confident using it everywhere else. Manscaped says you can use the trimmer on the boys if you want, but just make sure you keep the skin taut during the process.

The Lawn Mower 4.0 is waterproof, so you can use it in the shower if you wish. Adding water into the mix can help to keep the skin taut.

I immediately noticed just how quiet it is in use. This may not be an important factor for everyone, but being able to trim away without the potential of my housemates hearing loud buzzing coming from my bathroom, did put my mind at ease.

The Manscaped trimmer is also incredibly lightweight, so holding it for extended periods of time is no issue at all. I used it without any guard on at all (go hard or go home, right?) and found the blades sliced through the hair like a knife through butter. It was effortless and effective.

My only niggle is that it does, as should be expected, cut the hair incredibly short. At least, shorter than I would have normally liked. I'm not exactly a professional swimmer who needs to rid their body of all hair. I found, for my hair length at least, using the smaller of the two supplied plastic guards to not be effective; my hair was already too short for the guard to pick up.

A quick note on those plastic guards. Each can actually be set to two different lengths, depending on how you set them over the main ceramic blade.

However, when I've previously used the body groomer I already own, I'm able to cut to a short length using a guard and be happy with the results. That's not to say I wasn't happy with the result of using the Manscaped without a guard, it just resulted in incredibly short hair that I wasn't used to. I was seriously impressed with how easy the experience was, though.

For the sake of public decency, I'm not going to be posting before and after pictures. You'll just have to trust what I'm saying.

Yes, absolutely you can. While I'm not super hairy, I do possess a rather generous amount of body hair, which I like to maintain on a regular basis using a body groomer. Figuring this was a perfect opportunity to really put the Manscaped to the test, I attached one of the guards (the smaller one) and began to move the trimmer up and down my body.

Again, the cutting experience was smooth, easy, quick and effective. Any hair that was cut fell to the floor, which I was impressed with since my current body groomer would get hair caught up in the guard, requiring me to empty it on a regular basis. Manscaped has also fitted a small LED light near the blade to help with visibility. This LED light automatically comes on when you turn the unit on, but can be turned off by pressing and holding down on the power button for a few seconds.

Manscaped offers various bundles on top of being able to buy the Manscaped Lawn Mower 4.0 as a standalone unit. The company also offers a Peak Hygiene Plan, which is a subscription-based plan that sees you being sent a fresh blade to replace the one on your trimmer every 3 months, alongside a refill of one of the formulations, such as the Crop Reviver ball toner. This is charged at $24.99 every 3 months.

Yes, you can. It's only really worthwhile using Manscaped on your face if you have a long beard, as the guards can be used to cut through the excess hair. I didn't use it on my face personally, as I only rock a little bit of stubble and have a dedicated beard trimmer to take care of it.

Ultimately, yes I do think Manscaped is worth it if you take your manscaping habits seriously. The Lawn Mower 4.0 trimmer is a lightweight, premium-looking device and does an excellent job at cutting through hair. As I mentioned earlier, I was a little apprehensive about using Manscaped for the first time, based purely on some negative reviews I'd seen.

However, after using it several times not just for hair 'down there' but for other body hair grooming too, I'm happy for it to replace my previous body groomer.

Take a left out of Newtown Station and make a short walk down King Street and you'll come across Union Hotel. Another Newtown pub that supports King Street Carnival, The Union is big on live music. The front bar is also a perfect spot for groups to mingle, with pool tables, a wide range of beers being poured out of the 22 taps and TVs showing live sport.

A back bar area complete with heated courtyards provides a more intimate setting to enjoy some food, a beer or a cocktail and the Union is more than happy to cater to group bookings.

One of the few pubs genuinely worth visiting that isn't on King Street is Courthouse Hotel. With one of the best beer gardens of any Newtown pub, The Courty is well worth deviating from the main strip. However, it is this popularity that means you should try and nab a spot in the garden as early as you can because if the weather is good, you can bet your bottom dollar it will fill up quickly.

The Courty is welcoming of anyone and everyone and especially encourages everyone to bring their dog. A proper community-driven Newtown pub.

One of the loudest and most vibrant Newtown pubs on King Street is Coopers Hotel. A quick glance of the website reveals all you need to know about this boozer, with something happening every night, whether it be discount meals, trivia or even "gender bender bingo".

106 Oxford Street, Paddington, 2021

Ok, so to backtrack a little on what we said in the opening few paragraphs, The Unicorn Hotel is not only one of the most traditional pubs in Paddington, but in the whole of Sydney. It was taken over by the Mary's group a few years ago and they decided to keep it as old-school a pub as possible.

To this, we mean you'll find a classic selection of Australian beers on tap, plus a few from nearby Young Henry's brewery, along with classic pub food done right: steaks, burgers (including Mary's burgers) and schnittys.

The Unicorn is a very simple pub in the nicest way possible, making it an absolute must-visit whenever you find yourself in Paddington.

85 Underwood Street, Cnr of William Street, Paddington, 2021

The London has occupied its corner spot just back from Oxford Street since 1875 and has been a favourite of locals and visitors alike ever since. Everything The London pub in Paddington does is straightforward, from the drinks selection to the food menu, to the decor inside.

The beer selection isn't the largest ever, but you're sure to find something you like thanks to a range of local and imported brews, including the likes of Guinness. As for food, it's classic pub grub, think pizzas, burgers, steaks and a few salads. A "semi-outdoors" courtyard is a great spot to find yourself in the summer too but unfortunately, The London is currently not dog-friendly, although it fully supports the campaign to legalise dogs in all pubs in Australia.

9-11 Glenmore Road, Paddington, 2021

The Village Inn was the first pub in Paddington Village to open its doors to customers, way back in 1890. Much of that old-world charm has been retained today, with Chesterfield leather sofas, dark wooden beams and a rustic-style bar attracting much of your attention.

There's plenty of reason to visit too, whether it be for the delicious food being served from the kitchen or to snap up a table on the balcony in summer. It's a great Paddington pub to watch live sport too, with TVs on both levels, and it even makes a perfect pitstop for anyone attending the Sydney Cricket Ground for an event.

The Light Brigade is more than just a pub in Paddington, it's somewhere to go for a proper night out or weekend drinks with friends. A straight razor is the only option if you want absolute precision when shaving your beard. You can obviously invest in a beard trimmer or manual safety razor, but these don't always deliver the desired results. Also known as the cut-throat razor owing to the fact it can quite easily cut your throat, you'll need to make sure you've got a steady hand before taking a straight razor to your face.

While all straight razors follow a similar design: a sharpened blade that folds into a handle, the blade material can differ, as can that of the handle, too. In fact, the handle can be made from all manner of materials, including Bakelite, celluloid, bone, plastic, wood and even tortoiseshell.

The blade itself can be categorised into five main groups, which refer to the profile, or nose type. This is the shape you see when looking at the blade from side-on. The groups are:

You also want to take into account the width of the blade when deciding which straight razor to buy. The width of a blade is defined as "the distance between the back of the blade and the cutting edge." Widths are recorded in units of an eighth of an inch. Sizes can vary from as narrow as 9.5mm up to 22mm, and occasionally 25m.

Straight razor newbies may want to invest in a wider blade, as it affords more surface area to scoop up the shaving gel or cream you've applied to your face, as well as allowing for multiple strokes before having to rinse. A wider blade is less agile however than a narrower blade, so will offer less precision as a compromise. A 16mm blade is considered to be the 'sweet spot' of straight razor blade widths.

Once you've finished trimming your beard down to the last millimetre, or you use yours to keep your face completely hair-free, you shouldn't just simply leave it lying around on your bathroom sink. However, if you do look after yours well enough, a straight razor actually makes for a more economical investment compared to the more convenient – and safer – cartridge razors.

Blades made of stainless steel will be rust-resistant, but won't offer the absolute last word in sharpness. For ultra-sharp blades, you'll want to invest in carbon steel. The flip side here, however, is that carbon steel is more prone to rusting, so you'll want to make sure you dry it thoroughly after use and store it in a pouch. You can even apply a thin coat of petroleum jelly to further minimise the effects of oxidation.

Straight razors are similar to knives in the sense they will become blunt after each use. To sharpen them, you don't want to get your knife sharpener out, but a strop instead. A strop is a strip of leather that can be hung that you rub the straight razor blade against. Not only does it sharpen the blade, but it polishes it and can move it back into alignment if it has become slightly bent after usage.
