{"id":388262,"date":"2023-03-27T22:15:00","date_gmt":"2023-03-27T11:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dmarge.com\/?p=388262"},"modified":"2023-04-13T15:51:04","modified_gmt":"2023-04-13T05:51:04","slug":"iwc-schaffhausen-watches-wonders-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dmarge.com\/watches\/iwc-schaffhausen-watches-wonders-2023","title":{"rendered":"IWC Schaffhausen Revives A G\u00e9rald Genta Classic, The Ingenieur"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>IWC Schaffhausen is mostly known for its pilot\u2019s watches, such as the famous Big Pilot or its \u2018Mark\u2019 series\u2026 But there\u2019s much more to IWC than just pilot\u2019s watches, as the brand\u2019s big 2023 release, a new take on the iconic Ingenieur, attests.<\/strong><\/p><hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-dots\"><p>First introduced in 1955, the Ingenieur was one of the first anti-magnetic watches on the market \u2013 an invaluable tool for engineers or scientists. But it was later in 1976 when the Ingenieur really became an icon, thanks to a total redesign by the legendary G\u00e9rald Genta.<\/p><p>Genta\u2019s 1976 Ingenieur SL \u2018Jumbo\u2019 is something of an underrated classic. Yet it\u2019s still an elegant and understated watch that perfectly splits the difference between sporty and dressy (and luxury).<\/p><p>Thankfully, IWC has heard our prayers. The 2023 model\u2019s bracelet is better than ever, too: not only is it more ergonomic, but every link (except the first four) features quick-release pins, making it super easy to adjust the size.<\/p><p>You\u2019ll also notice that the Ingenieur features a radically different bezel design, which now features five functional screws. In keeping with the tradition of the Ingenieur, a soft-iron inner case efficiently protects the movement from the effects of magnetic fields on its accuracy. It\u2019s the most anti-magnetic Ingenieur ever.<\/p><p>There are three stainless steel variants of the new Ingenieur, with a black, white and aqua dial respectively (the latter of which is quite dark; somewhere between blue and green and rather alluring). The Ingenieur has always been wildly underrated. Maybe it\u2019s because it hasn\u2019t had an update in yonks, but people just don\u2019t talk about it as much as they should.<\/p><p>2023 will change that \u2013 especially seeing as these updates make the Ingenieur better than ever.
